NBA Participates in Coverage Dialogue On Police Reform
According to the expressed dedication of the NBA to offer institutional help in the direction of the reform of the Nigerian Police, the NBA President – Olumide Akpata, on Wednesday, 18th November 2020, served as a panelist on the Legislative Agenda and Public Coverage Dialogue Sequence organised by the Home of Representatives. The Dialogue, with the theme: ‘Policing and Human Rights in Nigeria’, was held on the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
Different members of the Panel had been Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila (Speaker, Home of Representatives); Inspector Common of Police – Mohammed Adamu; Govt Secretary, NHRC – Tony Ojukwu; Director, Centre for Democracy and Improvement – Idahat Hassan. Others had been the Chairman, Police Service Fee – Musiliu Smith and Bobo F. Ajudua, a Youth Advocate.
The Panel mentioned amongst different points, the proposed Police Service Fee (Reform) Invoice 2020, and its prospects in enthroning accountability, transparency and improved disciplinary tradition within the Nigerian Police Pressure. This system additionally afforded stakeholders the latitude to make inputs on the proposed Invoice, in addition to focus on the challenges of policing and human rights in Nigeria.
