Mace stolen from Ogun meeting recovered in Lagos

The mace stolen from the Ogun state home of meeting has been recovered within the Abule Ado space of Lagos state.

Muyiwa Adejobi, police public relations officer in Lagos, confirmed the event on Friday.

In an announcement, Adejobi stated policemen who acted on intelligence from some residents of Abule Ado discovered the image of authority of the Ogun meeting.

“The police operatives connected to Commerce Truthful Station of the Lagos State Police Command immediately Friday eleventh December, 2020, recovered the lacking mace of the Ogun State Home of Meeting at Abule Ado Space of the state at about 8.30am,” he stated.

“The police operatives, who had been responsive, labored on an intelligence from the members of the group that somebody in a transferring car, suspected to be Toyota Siena Area Wagon, threw out an object into the close by bush and recovered the thing which was later recognized to be the Ogun State Home of Meeting Mace.

“The mace had been allegedly stolen from the Home of Meeting advanced , Ogun State not too long ago. It has been handed over to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, who later instructed the DCP State CID, Lagos State, Yetunde Longe, to guard the mace and liaise with the Ogun State Police Command on the return of the recovered mace to Ogun State.

“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu nevertheless promised to help the Ogun State Police Command within the investigation into the incident that led to the restoration of the mace.”

Olakunle Oluomo, speaker of the meeting, had stated the motive of the theft was unknown.

“I have no idea the motive of the stealing however it’s true and the police are already on high of it,” he stated.

“I’ve to say that even the CP himself and different high officers have been to the meeting to see what actually occurred.

“I’m not suspecting anyone, I see it as a theft however the police investigation will inform us what actually occurred. It is not going to have an effect on our sitting, after we are prepared to sit down ,our mace will come up.”
