Lastly an Islamic Marriage Registry has been instituted in Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The Grand Kadi, Shariah Courtroom of Enchantment, FCT-Abuja, Honourable Justice Ibrahim Rufa’i Imam made the announcement by way of a follow path, signed on sixteenth December, 2020.
That is in train of the powers conferred upon him by advantage of part 264 of the Structure of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended); part 24 of the Sharia Courtroom of Enchantment Act, Cap 550, Legal guidelines of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990 and by advantage of different powers enabling him in that behalf.

ISLAMIC MARRIAGE REGISTRY (PRACTICE DIRECTION 2020) MADE BY HON. JUSTICE IBRAHIM RUFA’I IMAM
THE HONOURABLE GRAND KADI, SHARIA COURT OF APPEAL, FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY, ABUJA
PRACTICE DIRECTION 2020
In train of the powers conferred upon me by advantage of part 264 of the Structure of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended); part 24 of the Sharia Courtroom of Enchantment Act, Cap 550, Legal guidelines of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990 and by advantage of different powers enabling me in that behalf.
I, Honourable Kadi, Ibrahim Rufa’i Imam, Grand Kadi, Sharia Courtroom of Enchantment of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, hereby difficulty the next Follow Path.
COMMENCEMENT
This Follow Path shall begin from ninth Day of December, 2020.
APPLICABILITY
2. This Follow Path shall, save to the extent and will in any other case be directed by the Hon. Grand Kadi apply to Islamic Marriage Registry issues.
OBJECTIVE AND PRINCIPLE
3.The aim of this Follow Path is to manage issues beneath the Islamic Marriage Registry.
DIRECTIONS
4. All of the certificates of Islamic Marriage shall be issued by the Islamic Marriage Registry beneath the Division of Space Courtroom.
ISSUANCE OF APPLICATION FORM (FORM I & II).
5. Software type (Kind 1 & II) are to be collected and stuffed by an applicant and to be submitted to the Islamic Marriage Registry duly signed by each events, ie. Husband/Bridegroom and Spouse/Bride, and signed by the Consultant (Waliyy) of each events.
6.The Software type (Kind I1) shall be sworn earlier than the Commissioner for Oath.
- Official endorsement and checking of Software type (Kind 1 & II) shall be performed by the Marriage Registrar or any officer assigned in that regard.
- The Certificates shall be issued after the cost of the prescribed charges and subsequent completion of the mandatory types (Kind 1 & II).
- Official eceipt shall be issued to any Applicant upon making his/her cost.
- Certificates of Registration of Marriage will likely be duly signed by Marriage Registrar and Chief Registrar of Sharia Courtroom of Enchantment.
- The Hon. Grand Kadi might overview the Follow Path and/or difficulty additional instructions prevailing circumstance might render expedient or crucial.
