[VIDEO]: Girl Denied Board By Dana Air For Her Incapacity
A woman on wheelchair, Mrs. Oguntoyose Gbemi (pseudonym), was denied boarding a Dana plane due to her incapacity.
Mrs. Oguntoyose was on the airport this afternoon to board a Dana plane for her scheduled journey to Abuja.
Dana Air officers on the airport mentioned its coverage has no provision for wheelchair customers – disregarding the discrimination towards individuals with Disabilities (prohibition) Act 2018.
The passenger, regardless of travelling with the help of her sister, was flatly denied entry to board the flight as different passengers proceeded with the journey to Abuja this afternoon.
Officers of Dana Air insisted that her flight payment can be refunded because the airline wouldn’t convey her due to her incapacity.
The passenger who defined this wasn’t her first time travelling by air expressed shock on the discriminatory coverage of the airline operator.
A fellow passenger and former President, Nationwide Affiliation of the Blind, David Okon, who shared the video with Bonews Service lamented the ‘irresponsible coverage’ which lacked respect for human dignity.
Okon referred to as for full implementation of the Nationwide Incapacity Act with the purpose of addressing unfavorable insurance policies which discriminate towards individuals with disabilities within the nation.
Paradoxically, Dana Air was in 2019 awarded winner of the Incapacity Inclusion champion (Transportation Sector) by Mission Allow Africa.
